# Update collection item

> Updates fields, draft state, or archive state for one CMS item.

`webflow.updateCollectionItem` updates fields, draft state, or archive state for one CMS item.

## Example

## Inputs

Every input accepts a compatible signal. It requires the `cms:write` OAuth scope.

| `fieldData`        | `Webflow.CollectionItemPatchSingleFieldData` | No       | Collection fields to update, including `name` or `slug`.    |
| `isArchived`       | `boolean`                                    | No       | Changes the item's archived state.                          |
| `isDraft`          | `boolean`                                    | No       | Changes the item's draft state.                             |
| `skipInvalidFiles` | `boolean`                                    | No       | Skips invalid file values instead of rejecting the request. |

## Output

Returns an object with the fields below. Automate.ax converts provider `Date` values to ISO 8601 strings.
